PHASE 1: INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
Innovate Model
Instructional Design in the Innovate Model
The instructional design phase of the Innovate Model is a systematic approach used by instructional designers (e.g., instructors, subject matter experts) to delineate instructional strategies that improve learner competencies, develop effective product-based solutions, and add societal value for need through three stages incorporating strategic steps and tasks. The three stages of the instructional design phase are: prepare, instruct, and promote. In the preparatory stage learner proficiencies and the learning environment are examined regarding what the learner knows and should be able to do and communicate (i.e., outcomes and connections), differential learner attributes, and learning setting factors (e.g., business, industry, higher education). In the instruct phase, the delineation of instruction is centered on learner acquisition strategies, product revision, and product assessment. In the promote stage, instructional planning emphasizes digital product curation, exhibition influence, online product exhibition design and release, and product exhibition promotion (i.e., the CIEP Process).
